The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism has created the policy against the sexual exploitation of girls, boys and adolescents (ESNNA). The ESNNA code and PERUVIAN PATH have an agreement on joint actions to prevent and eradicate this problem.
ESNNA code conduct and our commitment
This policy program for social development and protection of vulnerable populations is a broad and complex initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR).
It consists of raising awareness and training the entire sector in our country with the aim of preventing and finally eliminating the sexual exploitation of minors and we are aligned with the most demanding government regulations for optimal tourism quality.
Specifically in the case of authorized and certified tourism agencies such as PERUVIAN PATH, the ESNNA program requests adherence to a code of conduct against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents with GERCETUR where we commit to comply with the duties established in this document. It requires that the company disclose this initiative, its standards and objectives. Likewise, that adequate training is carried out for staff and suppliers. Therefore, the company is committed to working following all the requirements of the code.
Unfortunately, in Peru trafficking of minors is a critical problem, but one that is being debated. By carrying out ethically responsible tourism, PERUVIAN PATH brings development, economic activity and improves the level of quality of life in the destinations we visit. Along these lines, our commitment to the ESNNA program also means that we help reduce and eradicate the sexual exploitation of minors.
Specific Actions/ESNNA Code
By adhering to the code of conduct to eradicate the ESNNA, we commit to putting into practice a series of actions, including:
Our office staff, as well as logistics staff: are already properly trained to contribute to the code of conduct. National or foreign tourists are not offered in any way nor are they granted any request regarding sexual tourism with children or adolescents for ethical and legal reasons.
Along the same lines, we act together with our partners (hotels, restaurants, taxi drivers, etc. and all of their staff) so that the objectives and commitments with the ESNNA program are met in all sectors and stages of tourism services. that we provide.
All of us at PERUVIAN PATH and also the partners in our operations are committed to enforcing the ESNNA code of conduct and reporting to the authorities when necessary.
As an addition to the commitment to a social responsibility policy at PERUVIAN PATH, we contribute to the well-being of children in our country, constantly bringing income to the families of our tourist destinations and also supporting children on special occasions.
The actions of the ESNNA code and PERUVIAN PATH stand out and have priority within our social responsibility policies. We seek for tourism to be an activity that leaves only benefits for the region and the country, in accordance with what is stipulated in the corporate mission, vision and values.
