Waqrapukara — "horn fortress" in Quechua — is a pre-Inca and Inca site built on a rock formation with two horn-like peaks, above a deep canyon of the Apurímac river in the province of Acomayo.
It is one of the best-kept secrets of Cusco: an impressive archaeological complex with niches, terraces and ceremonial platforms, reached after a beautiful hike through Andean valleys with almost no other visitors.
