This policy explains how payments, deposits, changes, cancellations and refunds work when you book with PERUVIAN PATH CUSCO S.A.C. It is part of our Terms and Conditions.
1. Accepted payment methods
- Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club) through the secure Izipay payment form.
- PayPal, with your PayPal account or any card. A PayPal processing surcharge may apply; it is always shown before you pay.
- Bank transfer or deposit. Our bank details are sent by email after you book. International transfer fees are paid by the sender.
- Cash (USD or PEN) at our office in Cusco, only for balances or services agreed in advance.
Card data is processed directly by the payment provider with SSL encryption and 3-D Secure authentication. Peruvian Path never sees or stores your card number.
2. Deposit and balance
- Day tours: payment of 100% at the moment of booking, unless a deposit is indicated at checkout.
- Packages and tours that include Machu Picchu tickets, trains or permits: a deposit of at least 50% is required to purchase these non-refundable services. The balance must be paid no later than at the briefing in Cusco, before the start of the services.
- Bookings made less than 60 days before arrival may require full payment at the moment of booking.
- Groups: the total amount and the final list of passengers must be received 60 days before arrival, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Your booking is confirmed when we receive the payment and send you a confirmation email with your booking number.
3. Changes requested by the traveler
- Date or service changes are subject to availability and must be requested in writing (email or WhatsApp) at least 72 hours before the start of the service.
- Changes to Machu Picchu tickets, trains or permits already issued are subject to the rules of each provider (for example, PeruRail, Inca Rail or the Ministry of Culture) and may have additional costs or not be possible.
- Name changes are not possible on Machu Picchu tickets and Inca Trail permits once issued.
4. Cancellations by the traveler
Cancellations must be requested in writing. Charges are calculated on the total price of the booked services, according to the time remaining until the start of the services:
| Cancellation received | Cancellation charge |
|---|---|
| 60 days or more before | 30% of the total |
| 59 to 36 days before | 40% of the total |
| 35 to 20 days before | 65% of the total |
| 19 days or less, no-show or abandonment during the tour | 100% (no refund) |
- In addition to the above, the following are non-refundable once purchased: Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu tickets, Inca Trail permits, train tickets, flights and any service that the supplier does not refund.
- Bank, card and PayPal fees generated by the payment and the refund are not refundable.
- There is no refund for unused parts of a tour or package (meals, nights, excursions).
- Instead of a refund, you may request a credit for a future trip within 12 months, subject to availability and to the non-refundable costs already incurred.
5. Cancellations by Peruvian Path
- If we cancel a service for reasons attributable to us (for example, not reaching the minimum number of travelers), you may choose between a new date, an equivalent service or a full refund of the amounts paid for that service.
- If a service is interrupted or cancelled due to force majeure (weather, natural disasters, strikes, road blockades, closures ordered by the authorities), we will offer an alternative date or service. Refunds will be limited to the costs that we can recover from our suppliers.
6. How and when we refund
- Approved refunds are made using the same payment method used for the purchase within 15 business days after approval.
- Card refunds may take additional days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank.
- Refunds by bank transfer are made to the account indicated by the holder of the booking.
7. Medical reasons and delays
If you cannot take a tour for health reasons, please inform us at least 24 hours in advance by WhatsApp at +51 937 696 925. We will try to reschedule the service; refunds will follow the rules above. If you miss a pick-up because of a delayed flight not communicated in advance, the service is considered provided.
