Vinicunca became famous only a few years ago, when the melting of its ice revealed stripes of red, yellow, turquoise and lilac created by different minerals. Today it is one of the most photographed places in Peru, with views of the snow-capped Ausangate.
We leave Cusco very early to arrive before the crowds, have breakfast in a local community and walk at a comfortable pace to the viewpoint at more than 5,000 m. Optional: the Red Valley, a spectacular extension with almost no people.
